Seminole Beach: The Riverwalk
So here I am, walking the Riverwalk in Seminole Beach, Florida at 5:00 pm on a July evening. Because even at 92 degrees, the view is spectacular and it beats the hell out of a therapy session. It’s actually one of my better habits. I always come here when something’s bugging me, either to walk the length of it or sit out on the boat dock or flop down on a bench to watch the sun go down. . . Or occasionally come up. Plus, afterwards, I can always stop by a local cafe for a glass of really good red wine and some amazing crab cakes.
The Riverwalk has never held anything but good memories for me - except once, when I found a dying kid stretched out in a rowboat at nine on a Sunday morning. That wasn’t so hot.
And it led to a lot of other problems - like the waif-like daughter of a local politician coming to stay at my 3-story house that currently is full of bickering artists. And the AC taking a dive which made the artists argue even more. And my agreeing to finish a badly filmed World War II video so I had enough money to fix the AC.
Which led to discovering an obscure connection between Seminole Beach’s WWII past and the dead kid in the boat. But that’s another story.
Until next time . . .
